The course of study for students enrolled in a Cosmetology course shall consist of sixteen hundred (1,600) clock hours of technical instruction and practical training covering all practices constituting the art of cosmetology pursuant to Section 7316 of the Barbering and Cosmetology Act. For the purpose of this section, technical instruction shall mean instruction by demonstration, lecture, classroom participation or examination; practical operation shall mean the actual performance by the student of a complete service on another person or mannequin. The course of instruction in the practical phases of cosmetology required for a student enrolled in a 1,600 hour course shall cover not less than 1,100 hours including training in technical instruction and practical training in hair dressing, 200 hours of technical instruction in health and safety, 200 hours of technical instruction and practical training in esthetics and 100 hours of technical instruction and practical training in manicuring and pedicuring. The Cosmetology course of study is designed to prepare students for the state licensing examination and for profitable employment as a Cosmetologist. All classes are taught by licensed instructors with many years of experience.
